Nebraska Defensive Back Tommi Hill Pre-Illinois Press Conference

On how practice has been balancing being on both the offense and defense
“Me and Coach Rhule always have to get on the same page about how I practice with the defense and get better on offense, just knowing the plays and getting ready with Coach Garret (McGuire). Going over the play book. Further on in the week I go on the defensive side and learn the techniques of what we are doing that week and what plays they are going to have to hit. In practice, tackling drills I’m going to be with the DBs. Blocking and perimeter I’m going to be with the receivers. Just working around it.”

On his relationship with Coach Rhule
“It has grown a lot since he came and I was off the charts last year - everybody knows I was off the charts. We just came together, had that one-on-one talk, got closer with each other. He just knows that I bring everything to the table either way, getting beat or not. Bring everything to the table and try to compete at a high level.”

On playing a weekday game
“It’s not different. We just have to come out there and compete like every game. It was bad how we came out against Michigan, but we learned from it – not to start slow and start fast. If it starts slow, just keep trying to have the confidence of ‘we’re going to get this start, we’re going to get this beat.’”

On the long pass plays when he is playing wide receiver
“Me and the quarterback have to be on the same page. I told them I’m just going to run full speed and then they throw it.”
