Nebraska Defensive Back Omar Brown Pre-Wisconsin Press Conference

On practicing stripping the ball
“I think that’s how it became an instant thing, just because we do it so much in practice. Honestly, in the most recent weeks, we’ve been emphasizing that a lot – takeaways, whether that’s intercepting the ball, taking away the ball, fumbles. We’ve been doing that every practice. We pretty much count them up and see how many we’ve got. It’s a challenge for the defense, see who gets the most.”

On the payoff of the season
“Honestly, I’ve had fun all season, just playing defense, especially with our defense. It’s been fun. Obviously, we haven’t won some of the games we were supposed to, but just playing out there with that defense is a different type of feeling. It’s a different connection. You feel connected to pretty much everybody, every position group. I love it.”

On the chance to get a win in Madison for the first time
“I didn’t know that until I went in the locker room today and it was hung up all around in the whole facility pretty much, how we haven’t beat them since, I think 2012. Honestly, that’s another challenge for me, pretty much for everybody, but for me too. That’s something you want to do. It’s a goal. Obviously, they do that for a reason – pin everything up. You see it and you’re like ‘for real?’ then you see how teams might say certain things. It just pushes you and you want to do it and beat them. That’s our edge.”

On how the team has been able to stay as tight as it has through adversity
“I want to say us and I want to say the culture that Coach Rhule brought to us. It’s us because we’re the ones playing, but at the same time, he brought that. When we lose a game, obviously it’s frustrating and people are upset. Just being able to come back the next week, obviously you’re mad and you don’t want to be that negative getting ready for the game. Staying close to each other, whether that’s playing good in practice or doing outside things in practice – we go out to eat as DBs and other position groups. Really just keeping that bond, no matter what happens on the field.”
