Nebraska Defensive Back DeShon Singleton Pre-Akron Quotes
On what needs to be worked on
“I felt like we have to work on our angles in tackling. We’re working on the perimeter right now and really making an effort to the football. We need more effort to the football. All eleven people to the football. Guys are fatigued, we just need to work ourselves into even more shape. You can play like that for the first couple drives but as the game prolongs you get fatigued and it’s harder to do that.”
On practicing stopping the quarterback run
“We just practice it. Obviously we can work on tackling the quarterback in practice as well. Coach Rhule does a great job of that. He does a great job of bringing the game into practice. So, that’s how we work on those things.”
On Malcom Hartzog’s interception
“The penalty didn’t affect him. He had a next play mentality. As a DB, you have to have that. Malcolm just shows up and works. He’s made for the moments. He’s a guy that never complains. He never has a frown, he always comes into the building with a smile on his face. So when those moments come, he’s able to make those plays. We were disguising cover two, making it look like a one-high shell. When the ball snapped, I was becoming the middle run-through. As the ball dropped, I saw the receiver and I saw Malcom come out of nowhere. I just had a smile on my face the whole time I said ‘go get it Malc’ and he went up and got it.”
