Nebraska Defensive Back Ceyair Wright Pre-Pinstripe Bowl Quotes
On John Butler
“He’s a really great guy. We’ve gotten to know him really well over the course of the season. I think his mind is great. I think he’s super, super advanced with his knowledge of the game. I think he does a really good job of passing that knowledge onto us.”
On the energy of younger players
“I’ve definitely noticed a lot of people flying around and making plays, flashing in these practices – people that maybe didn’t get to play as much during the season. I think that’s what the bowl games are meant for. They’re an opportunity to finish the season on a high note and carry that to next season. I think you see that oftentimes at other programs too. Younger guys or players that really didn’t get as much on-field experience during the season to come and try during a bowl game.”
On players advocating for John Butler
“I think Coach Rhule has a really tough job, being the head coach and in control of big decisions like that. When you have someone that has been on the staff already and has been around the players, the guys can speak to how they feel about him. Coach Rhule is someone that values people’s opinions and he values his player’s opinions and so hearing how we feel about Coach Butler helped Coach Rhule. If he can hear, they are comfortable with what he calls, what he does, it places more faith in Coach Butler for Coach Rhule.”
