On the huddle after the turnover and his leadership
“Honestly, I told them that we have prepared for this all offseason. I saw him (Coach Matt Rhule) walking over. I could see it in his face. He was getting ready to try and get us riled up but as soon as we saw it happen. Everybody popped up off the bench super fast and stormed out on the field ready to go. I just let him know ‘hey we’re good. We know exactly what to do right now.’ It falls back on everything we talked about this offseason. Just playing great complimentary football and always having your brothers’ back. Something bad happens to someone on the team, it’s next play, we have to make them right at all times. That’s the mentality for all defense.”

On moving back to corner from safety
“It felt fine. I’ve been playing a little bit of everything this offseason. I grew up playing corner, I played in high school, so it felt natural. It was really fun being back on that island. I couldn’t be happier to be at a position to help the team. That’s my biggest thing.”

On playing a home opener
“It’s just great to start the season 1-0, honestly. Coming out, it’s good for everybody that a lot of guys got to play. That was our goal, get the guys who helped us all week to prepare for the game in the game. We met that goal and I couldn’t be more happy seeing those guys out on the field because those guys are some of the hardest working men I’ve ever been around. They come out each and every day giving us the best looks possible. To have them get that experience to play in Memorial, not everybody gets to play in a college football game, so it made me happy to see those guys out on the field having fun. There was no drop off to me. They went out there and they played exactly to the standard that we play at. It was special to see.”
