The Nebraska men's cross country team has achieved four top-five finishes at the NCAA Midwest Regional since 1997 when Jeroen Broekzitter was the individual champion. Most recently, George Kusche finished seventh individually to earn All-Region honors and qualify for the 2019 NCAA Championships.
Before the inception of the Midwest Regional, the Huskers competed in the District V Regional, winning the meet in 1988 when two-time All-American Joe Kirby finished runner-up. The Nebraska men also have four second-place team finishes at the District V Regional, including its last in 1996 when Jonah Kiptarus was the overall champion.
