Postgame Quotes vs. Washington
Oct. 31, 2026 (Lincoln, Neb.)
Washington 17, Nebraska 10
On the last two weeks
“It sucks. It’s hard for me, especially for this game. Two plays I should have made and I have to live with the fact that I didn't make them. On the last drive of the game, we were in the same situation, at Oregon and Indiana where we had a chance to score and win the game. I'm telling everybody to be ready to go in the game and give our all for this final fourth quarter. Ant (Colandrea) trusted me to make a play and I just stopped, and the pick six happened. I have to live with the fact that I just watched it happen, that’s going to be hard. Being a single digit leader on the team supposedly would make that play but I have to live with the fact that I didn't. Come in tomorrow, and double down on the process. Going to beat myself up over that for a while. At the end of the day I'm going to lean back on my faith, Romans 8:1 ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus’. Just have to get back with the truth, Jesus bled on the cross for my eternity, that's who I am at the end of the day. I didn’t make the plays needed to help the team win, I can't put my identity in that at the end of the day.”
On leading the team
“That’s hard, to say anything when the last play of the game, I play like that. I have to play better. I am going to have to gain that back in the way that I practice and the intensity that I practice. Prepare for Illinois, it's a short week. We have to get back into tomorrow, get ready and get back to who we truly are. We haven’t been that lately.”
On making plays
“We just need to make plays. The plays are there all over the field. Coach Rhule is going to say it's his fault. It’s my fault, it's the players, we need to make plays. The call is the call, we practice the calls. We have trust in whatever they call, we have to make the plays happen.”
