Postgame Quotes vs. Iowa
Nov. 28, 2025 (Lincoln, Neb.)
Iowa 40, Nebraska 16
Head coach Kirk Ferentz
Quarterback Mark Gronowski
On offensive performance
“It’s just about consistency, and I feel like we really found that today. When the defense was letting up some big plays at the beginning of the game, we were able to respond there offensively and be the reason to be in the game at that point. After that first quarter, we really took it away and the defense locked in a little bit, we were able to run with it. We had a great pass game when we needed it, Kamari (Moulton) was really running it well, the line was doing a great job up front, and I feel like we were consistent throughout the entire game. When we’re a consistent team, we’re a really tough team to beat.”
On importance of toughness in a rivalry game
“I think it shows toughness to the other guys and knowing that you’re going to have to play through injury when you’re playing a big game like this. This is such a physical game, especially at the Big Ten level, everyone is hurting especially week 14, you’re going to be fighting injuries a little bit. It’s a matter of how tough you’re going to be and fight through those injuries. Guys really can continue to believe in you when you fight through injuries like that.”
Defensive lineman Aaron Graves
On winning the battle in the trenches
“Really it just kind of comes back to what we’ve been working on every year, trying to perfect week in, week out, and kind of just the mentality that you have been in the trenches, and it’s on us to stop them. And you know, they’re, I mean, hats off to them. They got a really good player in the battle. (Emmett Johnson’s) a great player, and he made some good plays, but we, we kind of rallied there and found ways to stop him. And yeah, that’s something that we like to take pride in.”
On adjustments to stop the run made after halftime
“A lot of it was just some guys getting out of the gaps a few times. That was the main part. So in the second half, it was more just, you know, we just need to tackle this guy. We need to wrap him up and actually get him on the ground, stay in your gap. And so I think that was the main thing. It wasn’t so much a scheme change that we did as much as it was just doing our fundamentals better.”
