Postgame Quotes vs. Rutgers

On the different style of play
“Hats off to the defense, they played a heck of a game and had a great plan against us. Those games happen, hate to say it, but we just have to go back. I mean I thought there was really good defense coming into this game, so our defense stepped up big time when we needed them and I couldn't be more grateful for them. Even our punter, (Brian) Buschini is just a true representation of our program and I couldn't be more proud to have that defense. We won the game, that’s all that matters.”
On wind playing a factor
“It wasn’t really a factor from a gameplan standpoint, just trying to figure out what it was. It changed throughout the game, but that's part of football. You have to play in different conditions and we adjusted well. I'm just glad we won.”
On the shift from first half to second half
“I think it's just execution. I’ll take that one. I missed some throws that could’ve kept us on the field. It’s all part of learning. If we didn’t have that defense, we would be in a different point of view right now. We’ll get it cleaned up and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
On building from first-year experiences
“I think it’s huge to have this bye week and reflect on all our games we’ve played so far. Understand what teams are trying to do and get after us for, it feels good. Naturally we want to settle and coast right now, but we have to step on it and keep going. I know our team will respond and we’ll use the bye week to our advantage, but we’re happy and it’s nice to get a win going into the bye week.”
