Postgame Quotes vs. Colorado
Sept. 7, 2024 (Lincoln, Neb.)
Nebraska 28, Colorado 10

Head Coach Deion Sanders
Opening Statement
“Tough game for us. We came out on the short end of the stick, obviously. Starting out, we felt good about matchups and so good about the competition and what we brought to the table. Today, the game started, and I thought first of all, first ball got deflected, second ball was incomplete, and it just was just not in rhythm. Shedeur (Sanders) came out and did something very unlike himself, characteristically, he never makes a bad decision, especially in that part of the field, which they got the pick six. After that, we were just trying to catch up. He'd been surrendering some things early, but I'm really, really pleased with the way they played in the second half, really pleased with the second-half defense, but overall, certainly not happy with the outcome. Positive things in the way we competed in the second half. We had no give up. We’ve gotta do a better job offensively with protection as well as trying to figure out how to establish a run game and be consistent with that.”

On the most frustrating aspect of the game
“Knowing that we have a tremendous offense, that we can move the ball and should be able to move the ball. We should be able to protect with experience that we have offensively, and we just couldn't get it going straight. We had some spurts and some great moments. I mean, we had some timing routes that we timed right up, but the way we started is just not indicative of who we are, and we just never got it together. Sometimes you have those games and then you have those days, today is just one of those games and days.”

On if he is anticipating the offensive line’s response to today
“Yeah, that was the whole post game, not speech, but conversation that we had. I can't wait. Everybody in this room is dealing with some type of adversity, and our young men are as well. I want to see how we all respond to adversity. That's what makes us, that's what elevates us, that's what progresses us to the next level, how we deal with adversity. Everybody's got a piece of adversity to deal with right now, and those young men just dealt with it in front of millions of people.”

Colorado Quarterback Shedeur Sanders
On his performance and thoughts on the game for Nebraska
“They just came ready to play. Simple. They just came out there. They followed their gameplan.”

On the impact of Memorial Stadium’s atmosphere and their poor performance
“I don’t think the crowd had anything to do with the performance. I think it was maybe everybody on the team just wasn’t ready. Overall, I don’t think the crowd affected me personally.”

On why the offense wasn’t able to respond to Nebraska’s defense
“Nebraska has a great D-line. I think they brought a great game and did what they’re supposed to do.”

Colorado Safety Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig
On the team’s performance
“Learning experience, very good learning experience. We kind of figured out who we were exactly, who’s going to shut it down.”

On balancing progress with recurring mistakes
“Kind of just go to the practice field, go to the field room, be very nitpicky on how we messed up, what we messed up. People just looking in the mirror, these guys, we want to be better, we’re not making excuses on why we should have won or why we didn’t. I told the guys, I’m proud of them, we got something to build off of. Just get back in the film room, nothing changed.”

On playing for Coach Livingston, his halftime message
“It’s the man he is, just playing for him. The way he is passionate when he talks to you, the way he puts belief in you. He’s a guy we’ll run through a wall for. We got a feeling it’s a tribe mentality and he’s just the chief. So we’ll do everything for him. It’s really not the adjustment he made, he made some great adjustments, don't get me wrong but.”
