On Northwestern’s defensive mentality
“You know, at the end of the day, I feel like we have great depth in the room. We rotate guys and we feel like everyone can go out there and make a play. They came out amazing. Two interceptions in five minutes.”

On growth of Devin Turner
“He acts like a coach's kid, if I can say that. Always in the room with the coaches and watching practice film and things like that. Devin loves football and he puts the preparation in, and so to see him make that play, it's no surprise. He hates it when I say this but at the end of the day, he should have about five picks right now. He's always in the right spot and he's a good player.”

On being a senior captain on special teams
“I mean, guys are embracing their role. A lot of guys are out there on special teams that didn't come here to play special teams. They came in to play offense and defense, but at the end of the day, that's a third of the game. Sometimes you got to suck it up and play it. I'm a senior on scholarship. I love it. I get to start the game off. Why not start the game off? Why not be on special teams? We love it.”

On preparing for a running quarterback
“Cole Freeman is our scout team quarterback right now. He’s about six-foot, 220, so he's running the whole option the whole week for us, getting down, getting in people's faces. He prepared us for it. Having a guy like that in the room, being able to set the tone at practice so that when you get in the game it’s not the first time you saw it.”
