Tom Fish joined the Huskers as a volunteer assistant coach in 2015-16 and works with the sprinters and hurdlers.
In 2016, Fish helped coach Malcolm White to three runner-up finishes at Big Ten Championship meets, as well as all-time top-three performances in the 100m and 200m outdoors.
Fish returned to a Husker program where he was an All-America sprinter and then a volunteer coach for one season, helping both the Husker men’s and women’s programs to Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2000. Fish also served as a full-time assistant coach at Hastings College in Nebraska and at Wake Forest.
Fish coached numerous conference champions at Hastings and more than 30 NAIA national qualifiers, as well as six All-Americans. At Wake Forest, he coached Carol Merritt to the ACC Championship in the 400m, as well as numerous NCAA regional and national qualifiers.
A native of Hastings, Fish was a two-time All-American at Nebraska and set an indoor 200m and 4x100m school record in 1997. His wife, Jill, was a five-time All-American for the Husker women’s track team.
