Tolly Thompson spent two seasons from 2000-02 as a strength and conditioning coach under Mark Manning at Nebraska. The Huskers went 19-15 in duals during Thompson's time in Lincoln. Thompson helped coach seven All-Americans as Nebraska finished eighth at the NCAA Championships in both of his seasons.
Thompson was also a member of Mark Manning's coaching staff at Northern Iowa during the 1999-2000 season as a volunteer assistant.
Nebraska's all-time winningest wrestler, Thompson compiled a career record of 157-21 at heavyweight from 1993 to 1997 in Lincoln. His 157 wins placed him eighth on the NCAA's all-time wins list at the time of his graduation. He also topped the Nebraska career fall charts with 72 (53 pins, 19 technical falls).
Thompson became the Huskers' sixth national champion in his sophomore campaign in 1995 by defeating Northern Iowa's Justin Greenlee. He finished third at the 1996 championships, while he took fourth place and won the Gorrarian Award for the most falls in the least time at the 1997 championships. A three-time Big Eight/Big 12 champion, Thompson was a three-time NWCA All-Star.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska, he and his wife, Tracey, have two daughters, Payton and Bree.
