Sam Sharpe joined the Nebraska Athletic Department in September of 2013 as a guest relations and security attendant. He joined the Huskers after teaching and coaching for over 32 years.
Sharpe graduated from Nebraska in 1975 with a bachelor's of science degree. He was a multi-sport athlete at UNL, as he was on the basketball and baseball teams. Sharpe was on the 1970-71 freshman basketball team under coach Moe Iba (Joe Cipriano was Head Coach).
Sharpe excelled on the diamond where he was a four-year letterman under Head Coach Tony Sharpe. He was named All-Big 8 at second base as a sophomore in 1972.
A member of the Lincoln High Athletic Hall of Fame, Sam and his wife, Claire, have two sons, Sam (daughter in-law Erin, grandchildren Brynlee and Dayton) and Seth (daughter-in-law Brooke).
