Phil Hood has worked in the athletic department since 1984, and currently serves as a trade supervisor for the athletic department facilities. Hood holds the athletic department licenses for Class A electrical contractor, Grade VI water operator, journeyman HVAC, apprentice plumber and gas fitter and Class A swimming pool operator. Hood also has a Class A CDL license.
A lifelong Nebraskan, Hood earned a construction management engineering degree from Nebraska in 1974. Hood is a past-president of the local chapter of ABPA and past-chapter chairman of the Eastern Nebraska Chapter of the International Organization of Plumbers and Mechanical Officials. He is also a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
Previously, Hood taught Grade VI water operator classes at the Associated Builders and Contractors. Now, Hood still helps students one-on-one out of his home shop to receive their Grade VI operator licenses. He also mentors young apprentice tradesmen on campus and in the city of Lincoln.
