An academic All-American in 1960 and team captain in 1961 for the Husker football team, Pat Clare has served as Nebraska's chief orthopaedist for more than three decades.
Clare received his bachelor of science degree in zoology at Nebraska in 1962. He received his M.D. from the UNMC in 1966 and completed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Minnesota Affiliated Hospitals from 1967 to 1971.
Clare served as an orthopaedic surgeon in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps from 1971 to 1973 and began his orthopaedic practice in Lincoln in 1973. Clare is a member of numerous professional organizations, including serving as president of the Nebraska Orthopaedic Society from 1992 to 1994.
Pat and his wife Linda have four sons, Tim, Dave, Mike and John, and nine grandchildren.
