Mikel (pronounced Mi-kel) Thomas joined the Nebraska track and field staff in January of 2010 after competing as a hurdler at Kentucky from 2007-09 and at Maryland-Eastern Shore in 2006. Thomas assists in gathering information on potential recruits on a daily basis. During a recruit’s official visit, he helps with giving tours and processing pre- and post-visit paperwork.
A multiple-time NCAA Championships qualifier, Thomas made it to the second round of the 110-meter hurdles during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, while competing for his home country of Trinidad and Tobago. While earning his degree, Thomas set both the 60-meter and 110-meter hurdle school records at Kentucky.
