1999-2000: Senior Season
Michael Windisch finished out his stellar career as an All-American in the pool and in the classroom...captured All-America honors in the 400-meter freestyle and 400-meter individual medley...finished fourth in the 400-meter individual medley (4:11.74) and sixth in the 400-meter freestyle (3:47.28) at the 2000 NCAA Championships...set school records in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:17.19) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:22.01)...swam for Austria in the 2000 Olympic Games, placing 26th in the 400-meter IM (4:24.62)...was Nebraska's top swimmer in four events (500 free, 1,650 free, 200 fly, 400 IM)...swam on Nebraska's eighth-place 800-meter freestyle relay team at the 2000 NCAA Championships...helped Nebraska to a 5-5 dual record, capturing 14 individual victories...set season best in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:13.98) against Iowa State, earning him the top spot on Nebraska's season list...set season best in the 100-yard backstroke (51.84) at the DMN Classic, earning him third on the season list for Nebraska...earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors.
1998-99: Junior Season
Earned All-America honors for the second consecutive season, placing 15th in the 400-yard IM (3:52.17f, 3:50.68p, second all-time at NU) and competing on NU's 11th-place 800-yard freestyle relay...also competed in the 500-yard free at the NCAA meet, finishing 18th while setting a Nebraska record (4:23.00)...Big 12 runner-up in the 400-yard IM (3:51.34) after winning the title in 1997 and 1998...placed third in the 1,650-yard free (15:20.12), fifth in the 500-yard free (4:24.88) and swam on NU's runner-up 800-yard freestyle relay (6:31.01, second all-time at NU)...represented Austria at the 1998 European Short Course Championships, finishing fourth in the 400-meter IM (4:13.52) and eighth in the 400-meter freestyle (3:50.38)...competed at the 1999 European Championships (long course) qualifying for the semifinals of the 200-meter IM, finishing 16th (2:07.13f, 2:06.18p)...won the 400-yard IM at the Big 12 Invite...helped NU to a 9-4 dual record, registering 12 victories in seven different events...honored as a CSCAA Scholastic All-American for the second consecutive season...named named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team and earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors..Team Spirit Award winner.
1997-98: Sophomore Season
Earned honorable-mention All-America accolades by finishing 14th at the 1998 NCAA Championships in the 400-yard IM (3:53.65) and swimming a leg on NU's 16th-place 800-yard freestyle relay...competed in the 500-yard free (28th, 4:27.02) and 200-yard fly (32nd, 1:51.22) at the NCAA meet...defended his own title in the 400-yard IM at the Big 12 Championships, bettering his own record with a clocking of 3:51.65...finished fifth in the 500-yard free (4:25.27), seventh in the 200-yard fly (1:49.15p, 1:49.60f) and competed on NU's third-place 800-yard free relay...swept the 500- and 1,000-yard free races vs. Southern Methodist, Iowa State and Missouri...won the 200-yard IM and 500-yard free vs. Texas Christian...won the 500-yard free and took runner-up honors in the 1,000-yard free and the 400-yard IM at the Husker Shoot Out...won the 400-yard IM at Florida Atlantic/Purdue/Villanova quadrangular...received the Marvin Grimm Outstanding Student-Athlete award from the Husker coaches...was a CSCAA Scholastic All-American and a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection.
1996-97: Freshman Season
Big 12 champion in the 400-yard IM (3:52.42), leading a pack of four Huskers in the finals...finished third in the 500-yard free at the Big 12 meet, setting a school record (4:23.82)...finalist in the 200-yard fly, placing seventh (1:49.74), and swam on the Huskers' third-place 800-yard freestyle relay...was selected as an alternate for the NCAA swim meet...swimming unshaved at the Texas invite in December, Windisch placed seventh in the 400-yard IM, 10th in the 200-yard fly and 15th in the 200-yard IM...placed second in the 400-yard IM at the Husker Shoot Out...won the 200-yard IM against Iowa...took first in the 200-yard fly against Texas Christian...earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
