Matt Hobbs spent two seasons as Nebraska’s assistant director of strength and conditioning/return to performance coordinator (2023-24). Hobbs was a certified strength and conditioning specialist with extensive knowledge in both strength and conditioning and physical therapy.
Hobbs came to Nebraska after serving as a sports physical therapy fellow at Northwestern in 2022, the first in school history. With the Wildcats, Hobbs served a dual role in the training room and the weight room, assisting in the coordination of injured student-athletes and their return to play.
Hobbs joined Northwestern from the University of Miami. He spent the 2021 season with the Hurricanes, where he participated in the sports physical therapy residency program. Hobbs assisted in the management of injured player rehabilitation at Miami, and he assisted with the development of a modified strength and field-based training program.
Prior to Miami, Hobbs worked as a strength and conditioning intern at South Carolina in 2016. In addition to being a certified strength and conditioning specialist, Hobbs is a certified performance and science specialist, and he completed USA Weightlifting’s sports performance course.
Hobbs earned his doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from South Carolina in 2018.
