James Harris has been the coordinator of sports nutrition at <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska since 2001 after originally joining the department as a student nutritionist in 1997. Harris was promoted to graduate assistant in 2000. His current duties include body composition/frame analysis, nutrition education, weight gain/loss, meal planning, eating disorders, supplementation and counseling for all Husker athletes.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
Harris returned to Nebraska after a brief stint at ArizonaStateUniversity, where he served as a graduate assistant strength coach for football. In addition to his duties with the Sun Devil program, he was also the head nutritionist at Athletes’ Performance, a training center for professional athletes in Tempe, Ariz., that provided training and nutrition services for athletes from the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB.
Harris is from Los Angeles, Calif., and received his bachelor’s degree from Nebraska in 2000, and became a Registered Dietitian in 2001 before receiving his master’s degree in 2004.
