Jack Pierce returned to the Nebraska Athletic Department as a fundraiser for the Nebraska Athletic Development office in February 2012. Pierce's primary focus in his new role at Nebraska is with the Cornhusker Cooperative Program, where he works with people in the agricultural community regarding donations of grain and other commodities.

Pierce spent five years as Nebraska's Director of Athletic Development from 1994 to 1999, after spending two years as a development office fundraiser from 1992 to 1994.

From 1999 to 2011, Pierce served on the board of the Nebraska Independent College Foundation, before retiring as President in 2011.

Pierce's ties to the University of Nebraska began in 1978, when he was a regional director of alumni activities for the UNL Alumni Association. He also served 14 years on Coach Tom Osborne's Nebraska football staff as an assistant coach, including the last eight years as off-campus recruiting coordinator.

On the field, Pierce worked with the defense and recruited such Nebraska greats as Broderick Thomas, Neil Smith, Reggie Cooper, David White and Tyrone Hughes, among many others.

Before joining the Husker coaching staff, Pierce was a football coach at Lincoln High School in 1978. He coached at Cobb High School in Anniston, Ala., from 1970 to 1972, then at Anniston High School from 1973 to 1977 before coming to Lincoln.

Pierce graduated from high school in Waterbury, Conn., before earning his bachelor's degree in physical education from Huron College in South Dakota, where he was a football and baseball letterman. He earned his master's degree in educational administration and physical education in 1976, and a specialist degree in educational administration from Jacksonville State University in Alabama in 1977.

Pierce is married to the former Victoria Schinkel, and the couple has two children, Justin, and Audra Lee.
