Erica Sesay (formerly Nett) was promoted to assistant director of communications in July 2017. Prior, she served as an intern starting in May of 2016, after working as a student assistant for three years.
Sesay serves as the primary contact for the Nebraska softball team. She handles all media inquiries for the softball team, including the production of the annual media guide, coordinating interview requests, maintaining information on Huskers.com, managing social media accounts, creating graphics and print materials and assisting with recruiting needs.. In addition, Nett also oversees the student contacts for the men’s gymnastics team and the rifle team.
Sesay also assists with coverage of the Nebraska football team by writing feature stories and practice reports, updating information on huskers.com, coordinating interviews and helping with weekly press conferences, the production of game-day program and game-day notes, as well as the annual media guide.
Sesay also works directly with Nebraska's award-winning Life Skills Program covering events, assisting with social media, writing stories for huskers.com and handling media inquiries.
Additionally, Sesay provides event support for other sports, including men's and women's basketball and men's and women's gymnastics.
Sesay has supported the NCAA staff at the 2015 Volleyball Tournament, including the Final Four and the National Championship, and the 2014 Women's Basketball Tournament. Nett also provided assistance at the 2016 Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships, the 2016 Big Ten Baseball Tournament and a 2015 NBA preseason game between the Chicago Bulls and the Dallas Mavericks. Additionally, Nett was a member of the NCAA Media Coordination Team for the 2017 College World Series.
Sesay also spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers and with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Athletic Department.
A native of Stoughton, Wis., Erica graduated from Nebraska with a double major in broadcasting and advertising and public relations and minors in theater and Spanish in December 2015. She is on schedule to graduate with her MBA in the fall. She was married to Abdul Seasy in August of 2020.
