Emma Beanland joined the NAPL as a Senior Applied Sports Scientist in August of 2019. Prior to accepting the position at Nebraska, Beanland was the Sports Science Manager at Catapult Sports where she supervised and managed a team of Applied Sports Scientists to deliver data analysis and interpretation to over 250 elite organizations.
Beanland completed her bachelors of exercise and sports science (Honours) at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia (2011). While at Deakin she competed in crew for four years in the eight, doubles and quad squads.
Beanland specializes in implementation of GPS and inertial sensor technology to monitor training load, mitigate injury risk and optimize performance. Beanland was also a former swimming coach, working with both state and national squads at Nunawading Swimming Club in Melbourne from 2009-2013. Her passion for load monitoring and swimming lead to her publication on validation of GPS and accelerometer technology in swimming in 2013.
Beanland has lived in America since 2015, originally based in the Chicago division of Catapult Sports for three years until moving to the Boston for one year prior to Nebraska. Her twin brothers and parents reside in Melbourne, Australia.
