Derek Simonsen

Derek Simonsen serves the Nebraska Athletic Department as an accountant/auditor after originally joining the athletic staff as an accounting clerk in the summer of 2006.

In his current role, Simonsen is responsible for the development of accounting procedures and special financial statements and reports. He also performs a variety of special projects for the chief financial officer.

Before joining the athletic department in a full-time role in 2006, Simonsen worked as a student worker in the athletic business office and as a student worker at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Facilities Management and Planning Office.

A native of Lincoln, Simonsen graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School before earning his bachelor's degree in business administration from Nebraska in May of 2007. He married to the former Sara Bom in May of 2008.
