Chelsea Barr joined the Nebraska Athletic Department in August of 2015 and is an assistant strength coach for the Huskers, in charge of all aspects of strength and conditioning for cross country. She also assists with volleyball and track and field.
Originally from Deland, Ill., Barr came to Nebraska from Indiana University where she was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for women’s swimming, women’s soccer, softball and field hockey. She also served as a graduate assistant at the University of Georgia where she worked with all Olympic sports in strength and conditioning as well as serving as a teacher’s assistant. Before her to her stint at Georgia, Barr served as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of Tennesseee and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Barr has a bachelor’s degree in fitness and human performance from Southeastern Louisiana University, where she also played volleyball. She went on to earn a master’s degree in strength conditioning and fitness Georgia. She also has CSCS certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and SCCC certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
