Betsy Miller enters her first year as a volunteer coach at Nebraska after competing for the Huskers the previous five seasons.
A co-captain on the 2008 cross country squad, Miller helped the women reach the NCAA Championships, as the team finished 25th. The 2008 campaign marked the team’s first appearance at the championships since 2003, and the team’s top finish since 1999, when the Huskers placed 16th.
A two-time co-captain for both the track and cross country teams, Miller was also a strong ambassador for the program off the field. The Lodgepole, Neb., native served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President for the 2007-08 school year and was named to the Big 12 “Good Works” Team in the Fall of 2006. Miller also earned the Gerard Scholarship of Excellence in 2009, as she was selected as the recipient of Nebraska’s highest individual honor in its nationally prominent Life Skills Program.
Miller is currently working toward her master’s degree in leadership education after graduating from UNL in 2009 with a degree in biological sciences.
