Alex Kringen joined the Nebraska Athletic Department in July of 2015 as the Huskers' chief development officer and was promoted to Assistant AD - Chief Development Officer in March of 2018. Kringen plays a role in fundraising, while meeting and building relationships with Nebraska’s donor base. Kringen is also heavily involved in identifying metrics and a streamlined prospect management system that effectively cultivates and solicits philanthropic gifts.

Kringen came to Nebraska after four years at Kansas State, where he spent his last two years serving as senior director of development. In his role for the Wildcats, Kringen was responsible for the day-to-day operations of servicing over 10,000 Ahearn Fund donors and has helped lead the development office through a period of unprecedented athletic fundraising and facility development success. During his time at KSU, the Wildcats completed $186 million in comprehensive facility projects over 36 months, including the West Stadium Center, Basketball Training Facility, Intercollegiate Rowing Center and Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. The Ahearn Fund achieved its fundraising goal of securing over $50 million in pledges and gifts for the Vanier Family Football Complex and North End Zone project.

During Kringen’s tenure, over $139 million in cash gifts were secured, while annual donors increased from 7,000 to 10,000 and cash gifts increased from $17.8 million to a record $46.6 million in FY14. The Chronicle of Higher Education reported the top intercollegiate fundraising totals for 2014, with K-State checking in at No. 3 behind Texas A&M and Michigan.

Prior to his arrival in Manhattan, Kringen spent nearly three years working at South Dakota State University. There, he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development and was responsible for soliciting and securing gifts for the Lifelong Champions Campaign in association with the $200 million university comprehensive campaign “It Starts with State.” Kringen’s primary responsibility was the re-launch efforts of the Jackrabbit Club, where annual donors increased nearly 50-percent and total dollars increased over 60-percent during his tenure. Kringen also established the Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction, which proves to be one of the largest athletic fundraising events in the country.

Prior to arriving at South Dakota State, Kringen served as Senior Marketing Coordinator for Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Kringen’s primary responsibilities included developing and leading marketing and promotional plans for ticketed sports, including football, men’s and women’s hockey as well as men’s and women’s basketball for Ralph Engelstad Arena and UND Athletics. He also helped with promotional and corporate sponsorship aspects for special events at Ralph Engelstad Arena, including the 2008 World Men’s Curling Championships and US Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

A native of Enderlin, N.D., Kringen earned his communications degree in 2007 from the University of North Dakota, and also received his master’s degree in educational administration and leadership while at K-State in 2012.  Kringen was a student-athlete for four years competing in baseball throughout his career and was a member of the 2005 Mountain West Conference Championship team at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Kringen is also a member of the 2015-16 Sports Management Institute (SMI) class.

Alex is married to the former Calista Kirby, who graduated with a bachelor’s of nursing degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she is currently working to complete her masters of nursing.
