Senior (2003-04)
J.J. Sullivan played in all six of Nebraska’s fall tournaments and was the Huskers’ most consistent performer, finishing the fall with a 74.81 stroke average. Sullivan posted seven sub-75 rounds, and had just one round in the 80s. He finished in a tie for 13th place in Kansas State’s Jim Colbert Intercollegiate and was 16th at the 49er Collegiate Classic, when he posted 71s in each of the first two rounds, his best scores of the fall. Sullivan will be counted on to provide leadership for the Huskers in the spring. Coach Bill Spangler will also look to Sullivan to continue to provide consistent play near the top of the Husker lineup. An Omaha native, Sullivan has seen extensive action during his Nebraska career, competing in more than 100 rounds for the Huskers. Sullivan has been a regular in the Husker five each of the past two seasons and spent most of the fall as Nebraska’s No. 1 golfer.
Junior (2002-03)
Sullivan was one of three players to play in all 13 of NU’s tournaments and his 75.87 stroke average was the lowest among Husker regulars. Sullivan closed the Stevinson Ranch Invitational with a 68 to match his career low and help him to a season-best sixth-place finish. Sullivan finished his junior campaign with six top-20 finishes, including a ninth-place showing in the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate. Sullivan also fired a 68 at the Southern Miss Invitational. He capped his junior season by finishing in a tie for 39th place at the Big 12 Championships with a 238 total.
Sophomore (2001-02)
Sullivan played in 35 rounds, tying for the most rounds by any Husker. Sullivan posted a 76.46 stroke average and played his best golf during the spring season. He tied for fourth at the Branson Creek Invitational with a 214 total, the best finish of his career, and followed with a tie for ninth at the Wildcat Invitational. His Branson Creek performance included his three lowest rounds of his sophomore year, including a season-low 70 in the second round. Sullivan finished in a tie for 53rd at the Big 12 Championships.
Redshirt (2000-01)
Sullivan redshirted during the 2000-2001 season.
Freshman (1999-00)
Sullivan competed in 10 tournaments as a true freshman for Coach Larry Romjue and compiled a 77.07 stroke average. His best finish of his rookie season was a tie for eighth place at the Fairway Club Invitational in the initial tournament of his collegiate career. Sullivan posted a season-low 70 in the final round of the UTSA Invitational and capped his year with a tie for 57th at the Big 12 Championships.
Before Nebraska
Sullivan lettered four times under Coach Paul Halpine at Omaha Gross. He finished his high school career with 10 wins and won the state individual title his senior season, after finishing runner-up his first three seasons of varsity golf. He was a three-time Bellevue Leader Player of the Year and a three-time Kansas-Nebraska Cup team member. He was also the Nebraska 1999 Junior Medal Play Champion and was named the 1999 Nebraska Junior Player of the Year.
Personal
Sullivan is one of three Omahans on the roster, joining freshman Brady Schnell and sophomore Judd Cornell. The son of Tricia and Jim Sullivan, Jeffrey Sullivan was born on July 26,1981, and has one brother, Justin (17). J.J. is majoring in finance and is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and graduated in December with a 3.118 cumulative grade-point average.
