Graduate (2024-25)
Reed Malleck returns for his fifth season at Nebraska after earning his bachelor's degree as a finance major in May of 2024.

Malleck opened the season by earning a spot in the Husker lineup at the Gopher Invitational. He produced a three-round score of 224 (+11), including an even-par 71 in the second round to tie for 46th in an 80-player field at the Windsong Farm Golf Club In Independence, Minn. 

He was Nebraska's No. 3 finisher in the lineup at the Git-R-Done Invitational (Sept. 23-24). Malleck tied for 31st overall with a 218 (+5) including back-to-back even-par rounds of 71 to open the tournament, before settling for a final-round 76 on a challenging par-71, 7,003-yard layout at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln. He helped the Huskers to a fifth-place team finish in a 12-team field.

Malleck produced the second-best individual finish of his Husker career by tying for 20th with a 221 (+11) at the Qubein Cup (Oct. 14-15). Nebraska's No. 3 finisher in North Carolina, Malleck put together consistent rounds of 73, 74 and 74 on a par-70, 7,130-yard layout at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro to help the Huskers to a third-place finish in a loaded 13-team field that included nine 2024 NCAA Regional teams.

He continued his solid play with a 220 (+4) to tie for 47th in a 78-player field at the Steelwood Collegiate in Loxley, Ala. (Oct. 26-27). Malleck, who was Nebraska's No. 3 finisher in the lineup, opened with a 73 before putting together a second-round 71 (-1) on the 7,096-yard layout at the Steelwood Country Club.

Malleck closed the fall campaign with a 73.58 stroke average over 12 rounds, which puts him on pace for a career-best stroke average for 2024-25.

Malleck, who won the Nebraska Amateur Championship in the summer of 2024, has competed in 69 career rounds with a 74.70 stroke average.  

Senior (2023-24)  
Malleck was Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate (Sept. 8-10) to open his senior season. He produced a three-round total of 216 (72-71-73) to tie for 37th in an 84-player field on the par-70, 7,280-yard layout of the Tennessee National Golf Club in Louden.

In his second tournament of the season at the Bearcat Invitational (Oct. 1-3), Malleck put up a season-best 69 (-2) in the second round on the par-71, 7,279-yard layout at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati. He finished with a 54-hole score of 218 (+5) to tie for 40th overall.

Malleck earned another lineup spot at the Badger Invitational (Oct. 1-3), finishing with a three-round total of 222 (+6) to tie for 58th. He opened with a 71 (-1) on the par-72, 7,271-yard layout at the University Ridge Golf Club in Wisconsin. He helped the Huskers to a sixth-place team finish in an 18-team field.

At the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 9-10), Malleck finished 54th with 222 strokes (+9) on the par-71, 7,275-yard layout at the Ackerman-Allen Golf Course in West Lafayette.

He opened the spring with a 162 (+18) at the rain-shortened Battle at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, S.C. (Feb. 5-6), before competing as an individual at the Stampede at the Creek in Omaha (April 8-9). He tied for 11th with a 223 (+7), including a season-best 69 (-3) in the final round on the 7,627-yard, par-72 layout at Indian Creek Golf Club.

Malleck closed his senior season with a 74.29 stroke average over 17 rounds in 2023-24.

Junior (2022-23)
Malleck posted a 74.86 stroke average over 22 rounds in 2022-23. He opened his junior campaign by tying for 72nd with a two-round total of 152 (79-73) at the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wis. (Sept. 12-13).

Malleck missed Nebraska’s next two fall events with injury before returning to compete at the White Sands Invitational (Oct. 28-30). He tied for 46th with a then-career-best 219 (79-71-69) in the Bahamas that included a career-best-tying 69 (-3) in the final round.

After a slow start to the spring with a 236 at The Prestige in Palm Springs, Calif., Malleck rebounded to tie for 28th at the Desert Mountain Collegiate with a 223 (69-79-75) that included a career-best-tying 69 in the opening round. He matched that with another 69 in the final round at the Seahawk Intercollegiate (March 26-27) to finish with a then-career-best 216 (E) on his way to a tie for 36th.

Malleck notched another 69 in the second round at the Tiger Collegiate on his way to a career-best 211 (70-69-72) and a tie for 25th at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo. It marked his third career-best tournament score in a span of five events. His 69 also helped the Huskers to a second-round team total of 274 (-14), which was the best round in school history.

He capped his season as Nebraska’s top finisher at the Big Ten Championship (April 28-29) with a two-round total of 152 (79-73) to tie for 41st in Galloway, N.J. (April 28-29).

Sophomore (2021-22)
Malleck made his Nebraska lineup debut in the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational (Sept. 11-12) and was NU’s top individual finisher at the 14-team event. He tied for 41st with a then-career-best 223 (+7) in an 81-player field. Malleck’s performance included an opening-round 71 (-1) on the par-72, 7,154-yard layout of the Duke University Golf Course. He added rounds of 74 and 78 to produce one of NU’s counting scores in all three rounds.

He returned to the lineup at the Rich Harvest Farms Invitational in Sugar Grove, Ill. (Oct. 2-4), producing solid scores to finish at 224 (73-76-75) and tie for 63rd individually.

Malleck opened the spring with a perfect 3-0 record to lead Nebraska at the Big Ten Match Play in Palm Coast, Fla. (Feb. 5-6). He made his first stroke play appearance of the spring at the Stitch Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C. (April 8-9), where he tied for 40th with a 226 (71-75-80) while playing as an individual outside the Husker lineup. His opening-round 71 (-1) matched his then-career best. Malleck played outside the lineup again at the Hawkeye Invitational on April 16-17, putting up a 225 (74-74-77) to tie for 39th. Malleck capped the season in the lineup at the Big Ten Championship, where he shot a 239 (74-80-85) to place 64th.

He finished the 2021-22 season with a 75.80 stroke average over 15 rounds.

Freshman (2020-21)
Malleck got his first taste of collegiate action by tying for 34th in a 60-player field at the Git-R-Done Husker Invitational (April 17-18). He put up solid numbers with a three-round score of 224 (75-74-75) on the par-71, 7,040-yard layout at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln.

Before Nebraska
Ranked as the No. 1 golfer in the Class of 2020 in the state of Nebraska, Malleck enjoyed one of the best careers in York Duke golf history.

He holds the competitive course record at York Country Club after shooting a 62 (-8), which also set the 18-hole high school meet record.

Malleck tallied six high school invitational victories and 13 runner-up finishes during his three-year career. He was a first-team Nebraska Super-State selection as a junior in 2019, before the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus forced the cancellation of his senior season of high school golf in 2020.

During the summer of 2020, Malleck captured the Nebraska Junior Match Play championship at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln. He fired a 68 (-4) in the qualifying round.

Malleck was the top point scorer at the 2019 Nebraska-Kansas Junior Cup Matches. A talented multi-sport athlete, Malleck was also a basketball letterwinner for the York Dukes.

Personal
The son of Dan and Kay Malleck, Reed was born June 19, 2001, in Lincoln, Neb. Reed has three sisters, Erica, Erin and Elle. A finance major, Malleck earned his bachelor’s degree from Nebraska in May of 2024. He was a GCAA Scholar All-American in 2024 and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2022. He is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a seven-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll choice. He was a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2021, 2023 and 2024. He was a member of the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2023-24. He was also a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner in 2023.
