  • Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll (Fall 2019)

Senior (2019-20)
Mitch Klooz did not participate in any events for the Huskers but provided key depth for the 2019-20 squad. Klooz was also named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall. 

Redshirt Junior (2018-19)
Klooz made his first appearance of the season for the Huskers at Big Ten Match Play in Palm Coast, Fla. The redshirt junior was one of the six Huskers to make the trip down to the two-day tournament. Klooz participated in all four matches and went 2-2 on the weekend. Klooz made his first stroke-play appearance for NU at the Husker Invitational (April 13), finishing tied for 12th after carding a 36-hole 150 (+8). 

He also participated in the Hawkeye Invitational (April 20-21) and tied for 54th with a score of 221 (+8). Klooz completed his first season as a Husker by firing a 225 (+15) at the three-day Big Ten Championships (April 26-28). His first round score of 72 (+2) had him in the top 15 overall after day one. He finishes his first year at NU with a 74.50 stroke average and one top 15 finish.

Before Nebraska (Liberty)

Sophomore (2017-18)
Klooz competed in just one event during the fall, finishing the Patriot Intercollegiate tied for 47th place with a 228 (74-78-76). He finished his final year at Liberty with a stroke average of 76.0 during the fall. Klooz qualified for a medical redshirt before transferring to Nebraska.

Redshirt Freshman (2016-17)
After not competing for Liberty in the fall, Klooz participated in four events for the Flames during the spring. His top finish came at the Manor Intercollegiate, where he placed 35th with an 8-over par 224 (71-74-79). Klooz opened the event with a season-low 1-under par 71. He finished the season with a stroke average of 78.5.

Medical Redshirt (2015-16)
Klooz was named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, but did not compete during his sophomore campaign.

Redshirt (2014-15)
Klooz competed in two events for the Liberty men's golf team during the fall, notching his highest finish at the Shoal Creek Invitational with a 23-over par 239 (83-76-80), tying him for 61st. He also competed in the Flames' head-to-head matchup against Stetson to open the spring schedule.

High School
Klooz graduated from Laurel-Concord Coleridge High School in Laurel, Neb. He won the Nebraska Class C state championship his freshman and sophomore year and was a three-time member of the state all-academic team. He was a Nebraska Amateur low junior as a freshman and sophomore, highlighted by a runner-up finish during his sophomore season. Klooz won the Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship as a sophomore and became a Big "I" qualifier as a junior. He also found success in basketball, becoming a two-time all-conference honorable mention and a four-year letterwinner.

Personal
Born on July 26, 1996, Mitch is the son of Randy and Lori Klooz. He graduated with his undergraduate degree in business finance from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He’s now pursuing his master’s degree at Nebraska. After graduation, Klooz would like to pursue a career in actuarial science.
