2021-22 (Junior)
Shamiel Stevenson (pronounced Sha-meal) Stevenson was one of the Huskers’ top reserves in 2020-21, playing in 26 games and averaging 5.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.  He had five double-figure games while averaging just over 14 minutes per contest. Stevenson had a season--best 14 points against both McNeese State and at Minnesota, while collecting three of his five double-figure efforts in Big Ten play. His other double-figure performances came with 12 points in 19 minutes at No. 5 Illinois and 10 points and six rebounds in 21 minutes against Purdue. Stevenson opened the year with two double-figure games in his first four contests, including a 14-point, six-rebound performance against McNeese State went he went 4-of- from the field and 6-of-8 from the foul line. He played a major role in NU’s win over South Dakota, finishing with 11 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals against the Coyotes. His best stretch in Big Ten play came during a three-game stretch where he averaged 9.7 ppg from Jan. 10-Feb. 8, which included the 14-point effort at Minnesota as well as right point at Michigan State and seven points against Indiana.
 
2019-20 (SIT OUT)
Stevenson sat out the 2019-20 season after transferring from Nevada. He was hoping to gain immediate eligibility, but his appeal was declined in November of 2019. He was able to play for the Huskers on their trip to Italy in August of 2019, averaging 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in four wins.

BEFORE NEBRASKA
Stevenson spent the 2017-18 season and the first semester of 2018-19 at Pittsburgh before transferring to Nevada in January of 2019.  As a freshman at Pitt in 2017-18, Stevenson played in 32 games, including 13 starts, and averaged 8.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game for the Panthers. He shot a team-high 50.5 percent from the field and was second on the team in rebounding. He also shot 37.5 percent from 3-point range and got to the foul line a team-high 112 times, a total which ranked fourth among ACC freshmen. He reached double figures 13 times as a freshman, including a career-high 19 points against Montana, when he went 7-of-10 from the field and added six rebounds and three assists. Stevenson posted seven of his double-figure efforts in ACC play, including 17 points against Florida State and 16 at nationally-ranked Miami. He grabbed five or more rebounds on 15 occasions, including a career-high nine caroms at Virginia Tech, at Navy and against Mount St. Mary’s. He played in just four games in 2018-19 before transferring to Nevada following the fall semester, where he sat out the remainder of 2018-19 before coming to Nebraska.

Stevenson played his senior year at Hillcrest Prep in Arizona, averaging 14.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 blocks in his only season at the school. He shot 38 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the line, helping the school to a 33-6 record and a No. 9 ranking in the MaxPreps Independent poll. He was selected to play in the BioSteel All-Canadian Game in 2017 and also won the slam dunk contest in the event. Stevenson was also the MVP of the North Pole Hoops Showcase in Ontario, finishing with 22 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in the Top 20 Prospect Game. He was rated as the No. 34 small forward in the 2017 recruiting class by 247 Sports. He also spent two seasons at Wassatch Academy in Utah, averaging 10.9 points and 5.9 rebounds as a junior in helping the school to a 29-4 record and an appearance in the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School National Tournament. Stevenson played on the AAU circuit with U-Play Canada, and was invited to compete for a spot on the 2015 Canadian U19 FIBA World Championship National Team. He also played in the 2015 adidas Nations camp, averaging 9.0 points on 73 percent shooting and 3.7 rebounds per game against some of the top prospects from around the world.

PERSONAL
Stevenson is the son of Karen Stevenson and was born on April 24, 1998, in Toronto, Ontario. He has two brothers (Andrew and Takai).  In the classroom, he was an academic All-ACC selection at Pittsburgh in 2018. A criminology and criminal justice major, he earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2022.
