- Tom Osborne Citizenship Team (2015)
2014-15 (Senior)
It was a tale of two seasons for Moses Abraham, as the transfer saw significant time despite a broken hand which kept him out of the lineup for a month of action. Abraham played in 22 contests, averaging 3.4 rebounds per game and ranking third on the team in blocked shots despite playing just 10.2 minutes per outing. Abraham saved his best for last, coming off the bench in the Big Ten Tournament and grabbing a season-high 10 rebounds, including six offensive boards, in just 11 minutes of work to help Nebraska nearly overcome a 16-point second-half deficit.
Abraham was playing some of the best basketball of his career in NU’s first seven games, averaging 2.9 points on 64 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds per game before suffering a broken right hand in practice on Dec. 9. He grabbed five or more rebounds in six of NU’s first seven games, including seven at Rhode Island and against Omaha, when he also blocked a pair of shots in 17 minutes off the bench. Abraham’s season high in points came against Tennessee Martin, when he had seven points, five rebounds and a blocked shot in 19 minutes of action. He had four points, five rebounds and a blocked shot against Creighton before the injury sidelined him until Big Ten action.
Abraham’s playing time was reduced when he returned, as Leslee Smith also returned to action at the same time, adding depth to the Huskers’ front court. Abraham played in 14 Big Ten games, totaling 0.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in just under eight minutes a game. He had five points and three rebounds in the win over Rutgers and had three games when he pulled down four rebounds (at No. 10 Wisconsin, Michigan State and at Ohio State), as he played 17 minutes in the Huskers’ two-point win over MSU.
Before Nebraska
Abraham spent four seasons at Georgetown, helping the Hoyas to three NCAA appearances during his career. He played in 31 games at Georgetown during the 2013-14 season, averaging 1.9 points on 56 percent shooting and 2.8 rebounds per game, as the Hoyas went 18-15 and reached the second round of the NIT. The 6-foot-9 forward was second the team with 23 blocked shots while averaging 13.1 minutes per game. His best game of the season was in an overtime loss to Marquette, when he had six points, five rebounds and four blocked shots in a career-high 30 minutes of work. He had five or more rebounds in seven games, including eight against both Butler and High Point and seven at Big East Tournament champion Providence.During his sophomore season, he returned from a knee injury to appear in 28 games, averaging 1.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per game to help the Hoyas win the Big East regular-season title and reach the NCAA Tournament. He came off the bench and played at least 10 minutes in 11 contests, including 10 times in Big East play. He grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in games at Notre Dame and at Syracuse and had eight boards in 18 minutes against Cincinnati.During his first three years, including a medical redshirt year, at Georgetown, he worked with current Husker assistant coach Kenya Hunter, as the Hoyas made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Abraham attended Progressive Christian (Md.) Academy and averaged 15 points, 16 rebounds and 12 blocks per game in his only season at the school. He was top-100 recruit by Rivals and was among the top-20 centers in the country by both Rivals and Scout.com in the class of 2010. He originally chose Georgetown over Indiana and Maryland.
