2013-14 (Redshirt)
Tim Wagner redshirted in 2013-14 after he suffered a fractured left ankle during a practice on Oct. 2, 2013. He transferred to Winona (Minn.) State following the 2013-14 season.
Before Nebraska
Wagner spent four years playing for his father, Mark at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School. Tim totaled 1,354 points, 249 rebounds, 280 assists and 83 steals during his high school career.
As a senior, Wagner averaged 23.8 points per game, was the Winona Daily News Boys High School Player of the Year and the Coulee Conference Player of the Year, as he led G-E-T to a 20-5 record and an appearance in the sectional finals. He was chosen as a Division 3 all-state pick as a senior, a season highlighted by a 41-point effort against Blair-Taylor. As a junior, he earned honorable-mention all-conference honors, averaging 14.1 points and 3.1 assists per game as G-E-T went 26-2 with a state runner-up finish after reaching the state tournament for the first time in more than 50 years. He played AAU ball with the Wisconsin Jets for Coach Matt Majkrzak. He was selected to play in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game, where he scored 19 points, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range, to lead the Division 3 North squad to a 100-71 win. As a junior, he was a first-team All-Coulee and second-team all-area selection, averaging 14.1 points and 3.5 assists per game. He also averaged 10.8 points per game while starting as a sophomore to earn second-team all-conference accolades.
Wagner also excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.95 GPA and was an academic all-state selection in basketball. A four-year academic all-conference pick in basketball, he also played baseball for three seasons at G-E-T. Wagner turned down a scholarship from Winona State to walk-on at Nebraska.
Personal
Tim is the son of Mark and Nancy Wagner and was born on Dec. 9, 1994, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. He is the oldest of three kids with one younger brother, Nick, and one younger sister, Alexis. Tim is majoring in math education at Nebraska.
