Mike Fox

2011-12 (Junior)
Mike Fox enjoyed the most extensive playing time in his Husker career, as the junior forward played in 23 games after making just 14 appearances in his first two seasons. The walk-on was one of Nebraska's primary backups in the post and averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. Fox is a good complimentary player who understands his role in the offense.

Fox opened the year by playing a then-career-high 11 minutes in the season opener against South Dakota on Nov. 11, but played just 10 minutes in the Huskers' next eight contests, including four straight games where he did not play. An injury to Jorge Brian Diaz allowed Fox to earn some more playing time. He played 11 minutes against Alcorn State on Dec. 17 in his first action since Nov. 26 and then played a major role in Nebraska's 72-69 win over Central Michigan on Dec. 20. He come off the bench and scored five first-half points in nine minutes, including his first career 3-pointer.

Fox played at least 10 minutes in two of NU's first three Big Ten games, as he had three points in 10 minutes in a loss to No. 16 Michigan State on Dec. 31 and had a pair of rebounds in 12 minutes at sixth-ranked Ohio State. When Diaz returned, Fox saw his minutes reduced over the next month, but played a key role in the win at Iowa on Jan. 26, playing five minutes in the first half after Brandon Ubel picked up two quick fouls. After Diaz was sidelined again in early February, Fox became an integral part of the rotation, averaging 16.8 minutes per game over his final nine contests. He averaged 2.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in that stretch, tying or setting single-game highs in points, rebounds and assists. He had three points, a rebound and a career-high two steals in 16 minutes off the bench at Penn State on Feb. 11 and a career-high six points on 3-of-4 shooting at Purdue on Feb. 22. In the loss against No. 6 Michigan State, Fox played a career-high 28 minutes and scored four points while grabbing a career-high five rebounds. It was one of six games down the stretch where he grabbed at least two rebounds. 

2010-11 (Sophomore)
Fox served in a reserve role, as he appeared in seven contests, totaling  eight points and six rebounds in 18 minutes of action.  He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, hitting baskets against Eastern Washington, Grambling, North Dakota and Savannah State and five of his six rebounds came on the offensive end. He pulled down a career-high three caroms in four minutes against Grambling on Dec. 21, and had two rebounds in three minutes against Savannah State on Jan. 5.

2009-10 (Redshirt Freshman)
Fox saw action in eight games as a redshirt freshman, averaging 0.9 points and 0.5 rebounds per game. On the season he took two shots, making his only field-goal attempt against Texas-Pan American. He also had two rebounds against UTPA and added single boards against USC Upstate and Maryland Eastern Shore.  Fox had a season-best four points against UTPA and added his other three points against Southern Utah when he went 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. Overall, he was 5-of-6 at the foul line. He also added one steal in the season opener against USC Upstate.

2008-09 (Freshman)
Fox joined the Huskers at Christmas after spending his first semester in college at Northwest Missouri State. He enrolled for the fall semester, but did not officially practice with the NMSU basketball team during the competitive season. He redshirted once he arrived at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska
Fox was an all-state performer at Beatrice High School, helping Coach Jim Weeks to a Nebraska Class B state title in 2008, when he averaged 15.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The Orangemen finished with a 23-3 record, defeating Elkhorn in the state title game. Fox hit two free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining for the final margin, giving Beatrice its second state title in four years.

Fox, who was a freshman when an undefeated Beatrice squad (24-0) won the 2005 state championship, helped Beatrice to a Class B runner-up finish as a junior. He posted a career high with 31 points against Grand Island Northwest as a senior while posting multiple games with a career-best 15 rebounds.
Fox earned Class B first-team all-state honors from both the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald in 2008 and was a two-time Class B player of the year. He was selected to the Journal Star's Super-State team and was a second-team All-Nebraska honoree by the World-Herald.  Fox led Class B in rebounding at 9.7 boards per game in 2008, and was ranked second in the state in free throw percentage, hitting 81 percent from the stripe.

A four-year letterman in basketball, Fox also lettered three seasons in soccer and twice in tennis. He was a National Honor Society member and was on the honor roll and student council at Beatrice. 

Personal
Mike is the son of Paul and Deb Fox, and was born Oct. 20, 1989. He has two brothers, Sean and Steve and one sister, Lauren. Mike earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2013, after majoring in mathematics education.
