Aaron Curry Season 2013

2014 Outlook
Aaron Curry was a starter at defensive tackle for the majority of the second half of the 2013 season, and is part of an impressive group of young talent returning on the front four this season. Curry will battle for playing time at defensive tackle along with sophomores Maliek Collins, Kevin Maurice and Vincent Valentine, and fellow junior Kevin Williams.

The 6-1, 280-pound Curry has the versatility and athleticism to move around on the defensive line. He has shown the ability to be effective at the point of attack against the run, while also being an effective pass rusher.

2013 (Sophomore)
Curry played in every game and started all eight Big Ten games. He finished with 24 tackles, three tackles for loss and a pair of sacks, and had at least four tackles in three games.

Curry had a season-high five tackles against Michigan State and added four tackles against Minnesota and Penn State. Curry notched his first career sack with an 11-yarder against South Dakota State. He added his second sack of the year with a five-yarder on the first play of the game at Purdue. He also had a tackle for loss at Minnesota and closed the year with two tackles in the Gator Bowl. Curry added three quarterback hurries.

2012 (Freshman)
Curry was one of five true freshmen to play in 2012. He played in the first four games and made three tackles before being sidelined for the season.

Before Nebraska (Fossil Ridge HS)
Curry was one of two Texans in Nebraska’s 2012 signing class. As a senior, Curry had 59 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble for Fossil Ridge High. His play helped Coach Tony Baccarini’s team to a 6-5 record and a trip to the state playoffs. Curry was an all-district performer at the 5A level as a senior.

As a junior, Curry had 68 total tackles, including four sacks. Curry was ranked among the top 50 defensive tackles in the country by Scout.com and Rivals.com. In addition to Nebraska, Curry also visited Iowa, Missouri and Boise State and had dozens of other scholarship offers.

Personal
Aaron was born on June 12, 1994, and is the son of Aaron Sr. and Peggie Curry. The younger Curry is a psychology major. His community outreach activities have included Husker Heroes, Uplifting Athletes and local community rec center visits. Curry’s family has an athletic background. Aaron Curry Sr. played college basketball at Oklahoma. Curry is cousins on his mom’s side of the family with former Illinois and NFL standout and current BTN analyst Howard Griffith and former Oklahoma gridiron standout Rod Shoate.
