2010 Outlook
Texas native Jesse Coffey is part of an impressive group of young talent on the Nebraska offensive line. The 6-7, 290-pound Coffey made a favorable impression on the Husker coaching staff in his first season in Lincoln, when he sat out as a redshirt, while also gaining strength in the Nebraska weight room. Coffey spent the majority of the spring working at right tackle and will look to push for playing time on a line that returns four starters for 2010.

Before Nebraska (Guyer HS)
Coffey earned honorable-mention Associated Press Class 4A all-state honors for Coach John Walsh at Denton's Guyer High School and was a first-team all-area selection by the Dallas Morning News. He was a key part of Guyer's 12-3 record and 4A state semifinal appearance in just the school's third year of varsity football. A three-year starter, Coffey graded out above 90 percent in 2008, and recorded more than 50 pancake blocks. Coffey's play helped Guyer make a dramatic turnaround from the 2007 season when it won just one game.

Despite the lack of team success, Coffey was noticed by schools around the country, and chose Nebraska over numerous offers including Kansas and Texas A&M. Coffey, who was listed among the top 100 prospects in Texas, only visited Nebraska and committed after attending NU's summer camp. Coffey was a standout in the classroom, as he carried a 5.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, and tied for first in his class.

Personal
Coffey is the son of Allen and Amy Coffey and was born on Oct. 6, 1990. He majored in construction management at Nebraska and earned his bachelor's degree in May of 2013. He claimed a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13. He was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll each of his two semesters.
