Junior Brent Moravec found his way to playing time as a member of Nebraska’s special teams units in 2010. Moravec appeared in eight games last season on the Husker coverage units, helping Nebraska rank among the conference’s best in those areas. This season, the Grand Island product hopes to push for playing time in the secondary this fall, where Nebraska lost five key seniors to graduation.
2010 (Sophomore)
Moravec appeared in eight games and finished with four tackles, including three solo stops. He had two tackles against Kansas, and solo stops against Iowa State and Colorado.
2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Moravec was a reserve in the secondary, but did not appear in a game.
2008 (Redshirt)
Moravec redshirted and worked on the Husker scout team.
Before Nebraska (Grand Island Central Catholic HS)
Moravec had a stellar athletic career at Grand Island Central Catholic where he competed in football, basketball and track and field. Moravec also excelled in the classroom, as he was nominated for the prestigious Wendy's High School Heisman Award. He was a three-time academic all-state selection in football, basketball and track. As a senior, Moravec earned honorable-mention Class C-1 all-state honors from the Omaha World-Herald after finishing third in the 100-meter dash and seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Personal
Brent is the son of Mark and Judy Moravec and was born on Oct. 19, 1989. He is a four-time Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll selection and has volunteered his time with team hospital and elementary school visits. His father, Mark, was a three-year letterman as a fullback for the Huskers from 1980 to 1982.
