  • 2004 Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Academic Honor Roll

2005 (Senior)
Matt O'Shea added depth to a strong Nebraska front four during his senior season, playing a reserve role behind fellow seniors Titus Adams and Le Kevin Smith. The 6-1, 295-pound O’Shea returned to action for his final season after missing the entire 2004 season because of an injury.

O’Shea played in five games as a senior, making appearances against Maine, Wake Forest, Kansas, Kansas State and Colorado. He did not have a tackle, but did have one quarterback hurry on the season.

O'Shea was joined on the Nebraska squad in 2005 by his younger brother, Mark, a reserve linebacker for the Huskers. O’Shea was a 2004 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll pick.

Career
O'Shea missed the entire 2004 season because of an injury. He was a reserve nose tackle, but did not play in a game in 2003. A reserve defensive tackle, O'Shea played against Kansas and made an assisted tackle in his only appearance of 2002. A walk-on, O'Shea redshirted in his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Jesuit College Prep)
O'Shea was a standout defensive lineman and center for Coach Bob Wonderlick at Jesuit College Prep in Dallas. O'Shea helped his team to a state title in his senior year. He was also a standout track performer, winning the state title in the discus. He earned his school's Thrower of the Year and Lineman of the Year Award and earned all-state honors in the discus.
