Providing depth at a talented position, walk-on Will Dabbert will join with fellow seniors Aaron Golliday, Kyle Ringenberg and Jon Bowling to secure tight end.
2002: Dabbert played in seven games, but did not have a reception.
2001: Dabbert saw action in two games (Rice and Iowa State), but did not have a reception.
2000: As a reserve tight end, Dabbert played in three games (San Jose State, Baylor and Kansas) but did not have a reception.
1999: Dabbert played against in one game as a reserve tight end.
1998: A walk-on, Dabbert redshirted his first season as a Husker.
At East HS: Dabbert played tight end, defensive end and punted for Coach John Gingery at Lincoln East High School, earning two letters. He was a teammate and friend of fellow Husker senior John Klem. In Dabbert?s senior year, he recorded 230 yards receiving with five TDs, had 50 tackles and averaged 40 yards per punt. He earned all-conference and all-state honors, claiming second-team all-class all-state accolades. He was academic all-state and a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: The son of Bruce and Deb Dabbert, Will was born on May 5, 1980. Dabbert will earn his biological sciences degree in December 2002, and boasts a 3.884 cumulative grade-point average. He is just the third four-time member of the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team (also Dan Alexander 1997-2001 and Jeff Hemje 1998-2001) in honor of his community service. This past year he participated in the Sidney Tour of Excellence, spoke at a Cub Scout banquet and at Norfolk Middle School, and was a member of the City of Hope and Team Spirit Hospital Visitation program.
