1987 (Senior)
A dominant force up front for the Huskers as a senior in 1987, Tim Rother earned first-team All-Big Eight honors from the Associated Press and the Omaha World-Herald after leading Nebraska with 13 TFLs (97 yards), including 10 sacks (84 yards) from his defensive tackle position. The 6-6, 265-pounder also forced two fumbles and added a pair of pass breakups. He registered 41 tackles on the season, including 23 solos. Rother helped Nebraska rank sixth nationally in scoring defense (12.1 ppg), while ranking eighth in total defense (264.7 ypg). He was at his best in Nebraska’s win over UCLA, when he earned Big Eight Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors after helping the Huskers force three Bruin fumbles.

A two-year letterman, Rother finished his career with 56 total tackles (33 solos), while notching 15 TFLs (110 yards). He had 12 sacks (97 yards). He played in the East-West Shrine Game following the 1987 season, before being chosen in the fourth-round (90th overall pick) by the Los Angeles Raiders in the 1988 NFL Draft. Rother spent the 1989 and 1990 seasons with the Raiders. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, before playing four more games in his second season. Although he did not play another game in the NFL, Rother also had offseason stints with the Raiders in 1990, 1991 and 1993, along with the Green Bay Packers (1992).

1986 (Junior)
Rother was an alternate at right defensive tackle behind Lee Jones as a junior but saw significant action to earn his first varsity letter. Rother finished with 15 tackles, including 10 solos and two sacks (13 yards). He earned his first career start against Missouri, when Jones was out with an injury.

1985 (Sophomore)
Rother was a reserve offensive tackle in his third season at Nebraska. He moved to center for the start of spring practice in 1986, but he switched to defense later in the spring.

1984 (Redshirt)
Rother redshirted in his second year as a Husker in 1984.

1983 (Freshman)
A walk-on out of Bellevue East High School, Rother was an alternate offensive tackle on Nebraska’s freshman team in the fall of 1983.

Bellevue East High School
A talented all-around athlete, Rother lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track at Bellevue East.

Personal
The son of Douglas and Judy Rother, Tim was born in St. Paul, Neb. His younger brother, Brad, was an offensive tackle for the Huskers. Tim majored in English at Nebraska.
