1988 (Senior)
Cartier Walker (pronounced CAR-tee-ay) earned his second letter as a Husker in 1988. A reserve cornerback behind Charles Fryar and Tahaun Lewis, Walker finished the year with one unassisted tackle and one fumble recovery. He helped Nebraska capture the Big Eight title with an unbeaten (7-0) conference regular season on its way to an 11-2 overall record that included a trip to the 1989 Orange Bowl against Miami. The Blackshirts finished sixth nationally in pass defense (134.8 ypg) and seventh in total defense (262.8 ypg).
1987 (Junior)
Walker earned his first varsity letter as a reserve corner behind Fryar and Lewis in 1987. Walker played in eight regular-season games and recorded five tackles, including one for a loss of 11 yards. He also blocked two kicks, including a punt against UCLA and a field goal against Kansas State. He added two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He helped the Blackshirts rank sixth nationally in scoring defense (12.1 ppg), eighth in total defense (264.7 ypg) and ninth in rushing defense (107.0 ypg). He helped the Big Red to a 10-2 overall record and a trip to the 1988 Fiesta Bowl against Florida State.
1986 (Sophomore)
Walker was a non-lettered reserve in his third year as a Husker in 1986. He recorded one unassisted tackle.
1985 (Redshirt Freshman)
In his second season at Nebraska, Walker was a non-lettered reserve as a cornerback. He did not record any statistics.
1984 (Redshirt)
Walker redshirted as a true freshman for the Huskers.
Holy Spirit High School
Walker was a two-time letterman for Coach Ed Byrnes at Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City, N.J. He also lettered in basketball and tennis.
Personal
The son of Joseph and Gloria Walker, Walker was born in Atlantic City. He was a political science major at Nebraska.
