2023 (Redshirt)
Eric Fields impressed on the scout team but did not play in a game and redshirted during his first season at Nebraska.

Before Nebraska (Ardmore High School)
Fields was a tackling machine for Ardmore High School in Oklahoma. The standout linebacker recorded nearly 270 tackles over his final two high school seasons.

In his senior season, Fields recorded an impressive 180 tackles in only 10 games, including 120 solo stops. He recorded two sacks and forced a pair of fumbles. As a junior, Fields had 88 tackles before suffering a season-ending injury in the sixth game of the season. In addition to his role at linebacker for Ardmore, Fields also lined up at running back.

Fields was also a standout on the track for Ardmore. He was a member of Ardmore’s 4x100-meter relay team that won the 2022 Oklahoma Class 5A state title and the 4x200-meter relay team that finished second.

A three-star recruit, Fields was ranked among the top 55 linebackers in the country by On3. He had offers from Texas Tech, Arkansas State, New Mexico State and North Texas.
