  • Career

Muhammad played in 11 games his Freshman-Junior seasons, and played in 12 his senior year.  In all he played in 45 games and racked up 61 catches for 938 yards with an average of 15.4 yards per catch, with 6 touchdowns.  His senior season, he helped NU to a national championship in the Orange Bowl against Miami.  In that game he had 4 catches for 60 yards. 

 

  • 1994 (Senior)

Muhammad played in 12 games as a senior and had 23 catches for 360 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a career best 15.7 yards per catch his senior year.  On the ground, Abdul rushed the ball 5 times for 32 yards.  He also recorded 1 solo tackle.  In the National Championship game against Miami, Muhammad had one of the best games of his career with a 4 catch, 60 yard performance helping the Huskers come back and beat the Hurricanes for the title.

 

  • 1993 (Junior)

Muhammad saw action in 11 games and improved by having 25 catches for 383 yards and 3 touchdowns which led the team.  Muhammad was the only Husker reciever to catch a pass in every game during the season.  He averaged 15.3 yards per reception and 34.8 per game (12th in the Big Eight) and 2.3 catches per game (13th in the Big Eight).  His 25 receptions are the most for a Husker wingback since Irving Fryar caught 40 passes in 1983 and the most for an individual in a season since first-round NFL pick Johnny Mithcell caught 31 for 534 yards in 1991.  12 of Muhammad's receptions came on third down, and he converted 11 of those to first downs.  He had a career best day against Kansas State as he caught 6 passes for 91 yards.  His touchdowns came against North Texas (11 yards), Colorado State (41 yards), and the go-ahead TD against Oklahoma in the season finale (11 yards).  In the Federal Express Orange Bowl against Florida State, Muhammad left the game early in the 2nd quarter due to cracked ribs and a severly lacerated liver.  

 

  • 1992 (Sophomore)

In his sophomore season, Muhammad played in 11 games, having 7 cathes for 111 yards.  He also rushed the ball 2 times for 27 yards.  Muhammad alternated with senior Vincent Hawkins at wingback, played in every game and started four (Arizona State, Missouri, Kansas and Iowa State).  Muhammed had a season long 39-yard catch vs then No. 2 Washington, equaled his season best with two catches in a game three times (vs. Utah, Middle Tennessee State, and Oklahoma State).  

 

  • 1991 (Freshman)

Muhammad was one of three players on the team who played as a true freshman (along with Doug Colman and Troy Dumas).  Muhammad quickly moved up to No. 2 on the depth chart behind senior wingback Nate Turner.  He played in 11 games, and had 6 catches for 84 yards with 1 TD. He got his first career start at Colorado when Nebraska opened in a spread formation.  Abdul was the team's sixth-leading reciever on the year including a season-long 31 yard TD catch at Oklahoma State.  Muhammad also racked up 3 total tackles, 2 solo and 1 assisted tackle.  

 

  •  Before Nebraska (Carson High School)

Nicknamed the "Little Rocket" Abdul was all-city in LA and was named to the Best in the West list by the Long Beach Press-Telegram.  He averaged 15.5 yards and scored 18 touchdowns on 55 catches his senior year, on a team that went 12-1.  He had three three-touchdown games as a senior, and broke former NFL player Wesley Walker's school record with 143 punt-return ards in a single game.  He also returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns his senior season. Muhammed also saw time on the defense, and had 3 Interceptions his senior year leading Carson High to a 4A state title.  

 

  • Personal

Abdul is the son of Henrietta Muhammad.  He was born March 2nd, 1973, in Lynwood, California.  Abdul has two brothers, Kenyan and Shadeed, and a sister, Nadirah.  His full name is Abdul-Rahim Muhammad.
