Jake Schleppenbach joined the Nebraska baseball staff in the fall of 2017 as an undergraduate assistant.
Schleppenbach, who played for the Huskers from 2015 to 2017, became NU’s everyday second baseman and achieved Big Ten All-Tournament honors as a senior in 2017. For his Husker career, Schleppenbach hit .272 with 68 RBIs and 29 doubles. During his senior season, he had a fielding percentage of .994 and hit all five of his career home runs and the lone triple of his career. In the Big Ten title-clinching game in 2017, Schleppenbach hit a grand slam. On Senior Day, Schleppenbach had a career-high four hits against Michigan State.
Before Nebraska, Schleppenbach spent one season at Hutchinson Community College, where he led the team in batting average (.388), hits (85), runs (64) and triples (5). He played prep baseball at Pius X High School where he was part of a state title team in 2012.
