2016: Following an injury plagued junior season, Jake Placzek (pronounced Plot-zeck) returned healthy in 2016 and playing in all 59 games, including 57 starts • Ranked 10th in the country and led the Big Ten with 56 walks on the year, the most by a Husker since 2005 when Alex Gordon walked 63 times • Produced 16 multi-walk games, including five games with three walks • Finished the year with an on-base percentage of .460, far ahead of Jake Meyers, who was second on the team with a .402 on-base percentage • Hit .286 (54-for-189) and ranked second on the team with 47 runs scored • Set career highs in doubles (14), runs (47), home runs (6), RBIs (32) and stolen bases (7) • Notched 15 multi-hit game and seven multi-RBI games • Put together a streak of reaching base in 20 straight games • Six home runs came in bunches, as he homered in consecutive games against Arizona and Tulane, later homered in three straight games against Wichita State and back-to-back games at Indiana State • Ended his career with 112 walks, three shy of cracking NU's career top-10 list.

2015: Placzek was limited to pinch-running during the first 15 games of the season due to a finger injury • Went on to play in 39 games, including 31 starts • Made his first start on March 15 against Florida Gulf Coast • Hit .212 on the year with six doubles, one triple, one home run and 14 RBIs • Had three multi-hit games, including his fifth career three-hit game on March 31 against Creighton • Delivered a RBI single in the top of the ninth to give the Huskers a 7-6 lead at Creighton • Third time against Creighton during his NU career that he drove in the eventual game-winning run • Hit first career home run in a 2-1 loss to Ohio State on April 18.

2014: After playing in 15 games as a freshman in 2013, Placzek became an everyday player for the Huskers in 2014 • Played in 45 games, including 43 starts • Produced 14 multi-hit games after notching one as a freshman • Hit .271 on the year with eight doubles and 25 RBIs • Finished second on the team in walks with 36, one behind Austin Darby’s team-high 37 walks • Was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, two sacrifice bunts and a career-high tying three runs in a 13-3 series-opening win over Penn State on May 2 • Saw a seven-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 night in the series opener against Northwestern on April 18 • Posted his fourth career three-hit game and scored a career-high three runs in a 14-5 win over Kansas State on April 15 • Came through with the game-winning hit for the second time against Creighton in 2014 with a two-out, two-RBI single in the top of the eighth that gave NU a 4-2 lead on April 8 • Produced a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th with two outs to propel the Huskers to a 5-4 comeback win over Creighton on March 19 at Hawks Field • Produced his first career three-hit and multi-RBI game at The Citadel on March 1 with two RBIs on a 3-for-4 performance • Went 1-for-3 with a run and RBI against Utah on Feb. 23 • Made his first start of the season against No. 2 Oregon State on Feb. 15 • Went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

2013: Placzek played in 15 games as a true freshman in 2013, including four starts • Picked up his first multi-hit game as a Husker on May 14 against Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park • Led off the sixth inning with a pinch-hit double off the left-field wall, his first career extra-base hit • After being HBP in the seventh, he drove in his first run as a Husker with a two-out RBI single in the ninth that extended NU’s lead over the Jays to 12-9 • Entered Nebraska’s game with Northwestern on March 29 as a defensive replacement in the top of the 10th and ended up going 1-for-3, as the Huskers won the five-hour game, 10-9, in 16 innings • Made his first career start and picked up his first career hit in the first game of a double-header at No. 22 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 16 • Notched a one-out single in the bottom of the fifth against the Titans.

Before Nebraska: A first-team All-Nebraska selection by the Omaha World-Herald and first-team Super-State pick by the Lincoln Journal Star in 2012, Placzek joined the Huskers from Papillion-La Vista High School where he was coached by Jim Thomas • The Monarchs’ shortstop hit .417 as a senior, while leading the team in runs (36) and ranking second in RBIs (30) • Handled the bat well with only seven strikeouts during his senior season • Finished his career as a four-year letterwinner in baseball with a career batting average of .410 • Played American Legion ball for Pinnacle Bank Post 32, also under the direction of Thomas • Hit .426 with 78 hits, including 31 doubles, six triples and nine home runs, while notching 54 RBIs.

Personal: Born on Aug. 15, 1994 in Omaha, Neb. • Parents are Jim and Lori Placzek • Has three sisters, Abbi, Kirsten and Sarah • Earned his bachelor's degree in December of 2016 after majoring in communication studies at Nebraska.
