Martin honored by Conference USA

Jillian Martin has been named to the Conference USA January Performers of the Month team, the conference announced Wednesday. She joins five other top players for excellent play over the last month.

Martin earned a spot on the Performers of the Month team after averaging 222.9 over 10 traditional games in the Huskers’ two January events. Martin led the Huskers to a third-place finish at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite, finishing second with a pinfall of 1,156 over five games (231.2 average) to earn all-tournament honors. She posted scores 230 or better in three of the five traditional matches, including a high game of 257 against Wright State. Martin recorded her second top-15 finish of the month at the Northeast Classic, finishing 14th overall with an average of 214.60 over five traditional games, including a high game of 234.

Martin and her fellow Huskers will return to the lanes Feb. 20-22 when Nebraska hosts the Big Red Invite at Hollywood Bowl in Lincoln, Neb.
