Huskers host Big Red Invite this weekend

Lincoln - The No. 6 Nebraska Bowling Team will host the Big Red Invitational this weekend, Feb. 20-22, at Hollywood Bowl (920 N 48th St, Lincoln, NE 68504).

Coming off a third-place finish in the Columbia 300 Saints Invite, the Huskers are 52-26 going into a Big Red Invite that will likely include the winner of this season's national championship. The field of 12 teams features the top eight programs in the nation, headlined by No. 1 Jacksonville State with four tournament wins and a 56-8 record.

Nebraska looks to win their second tournament of the season at home after previously finishing first in the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic to open the season back in October. Since then, the Huskers' only top three finish has been in St. Louis at the Saints Invite.

NU has claimed victory in the last three Big Red Invites dating back to the 2021-22 season, most recently going a perfect 11-0 in last season's contest. Through four traditional matches in that tournament, Jillian Martin and Brenna Hartzler finished in the top five with respective averages of 229.25 and 217.25.

The Big Red will begin play with five five-game baker matches on Friday at 9:00 a.m. Competition will continue Saturday with five traditional matches beginning at 10:00 a.m. The event will conclude Sunday after a final traditional match to complete the round robin format, followed by two best four-of-seven baker matches to determine the tournament winner.
