Huskers Look to Host Illinois

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (3-4, 1-3 Big Ten) will welcome Illinois (3-4, 1-3 Big Ten) on Sunday, Feb. 15. The meet is slated to start at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and will be streamed on B1G+.

This matchup marks the 46th time that Nebraska and the Fighting Illini have faced off. The last time the two teams met was last season in Champaign, where NU fell 196.275-195.600.

Saturday will mark Senior Night for the Huskers, who will honor their seniors for their contributions to the program at the conclusion of the meet.

Last Time Out
NU suffered a 197.225-196.825 loss at No. 22 Iowa. Nebraska recorded season high team scores overall, as well as on bars, beam and floor. NU also secured five career highs in the contest.

Nya Kraus earned the beam title with a career-high 9.925 and a share of the bars title with another career-high 9.925. Lauren Homecillo also took home a share of the floor title with a season-high 9.925.

Whitney Jencks took fourth in the all-around with a 39.225 and Isabel Sikon took fifth with a 38.125.

Scouting the Competition
Illinois is ranked No. 36 in the Road to Nationals standings, with a highest team score of 195.800 on the season. The Fighting Illini have notable wins over Iowa State and Washington, with losses to No. 16 Penn State and No. 19 Ohio State.

Chloe Cho and Lyden Saltness claimed individual titles in Illinois’ most recent meet against Washington. Saltness took the bars title with a 9.875 and Cho grabbed a share of the vault title with a 9.825.
