The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) will welcome the No. 14 Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) on Saturday, Jan. 24. The meet is slated to start at 3 p.m. (CT) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and will be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
This matchup marks the 57th time that Nebraska and the Golden Gophers have met. The last time the two teams faced off was last season, where Minnesota grabbed a 197.075-196.500 victory.
Last Time Out
NU fell to No. 5 UCLA in its first conference matchup of the year. NU athletes recorded two career highs in the competition.
Isabel Sikon notched a 39.000 in the all-around to take fourth, followed by Whitney Jencks in fifth earning a 38.950.
Lauren Homecillo posted a career-high 9.825 on beam to lead the team in the event. Molly Peterson (9.875) also posted her best bars score to lead NU.
Scouting the Competition
Minnesota is ranked No. 14 in the Road to Nationals standings, with a highest team score of 197.150 in an upset victory over No. 5 Michigan. The Golden Gophers are 3-1 on the season, with wins over No. 8 Arkansas and No. 24 Iowa.
Jordyn Lyden led the team in its most recent meet, earning a 9.925 on bars and beam. The Gophers also received significant contributions from Teryn Crump on vault (9.900), Brooklyn Rowray on beam (9.925) and Leah Gonsiorowski on floor (9.900).
