The Matchup
Nebraska continues Big Ten play on Saturday afternoon when the Huskers head to the East Coast to take on the Maryland Terrapins at SECU Stadium. Kickoff between the Huskers and Terrapins is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. CT) and the game will be televised by BTN. The contest can be heard on the Huskers Radio Network, Huskers.com and the Huskers App.

The trip to Maryland represents Nebraska's first true road game of the 2025 season. Following a season-opening victory over Cincinnati in Kansas City, Nebraska had a stretch of four consecutive home games capped by last week's 38-27 victory over Michigan State. This season marks the latest in the calendar Nebraska has played its first true road game since 2013 when the Huskers played their first five games at Memorial Stadium and had their first road game on Oct. 12.

Nebraska comes into the game at 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Big Ten Conference play after last Saturday's victory over the Spartans. Nebraska trailed 21-14 late in the third quarter before reeling off 24 consecutive points in a span of 12 minutes to take a 17-point lead and secure the victory. The win was keyed by contributions from all three phases of the team. Nebraska's offense got going in the final 20 minutes, while the defense stymied Michigan State for much of the day, holding MSU to just 240 yards. Nebraska's special teams pitched in with a blocked punt for a touchdown and recovered a fumbled kickoff, leading directly to 10 points.

Maryland also comes into the contest at 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Big Ten Conference play, following a 24-20 loss to Washington last Saturday in College Park. The Terrapins led 20-0 in the third quarter, before the Huskies rallied for a victory. Maryland completed non-conference play unbeaten and opened Big Ten action with a win at Wisconsin on Sept. 20 before the setback last week against Washington.

Huskers Travel to Maryland for Second Time
Saturday's game is the fourth all-time meeting between Nebraska and Maryland, all since the Terrapins joined the Big Ten before the 2014 season.

• Nebraska holds a 2-1 edge in the series, including a 54-7 victory at Maryland in 2019. The 47-point margin is Nebraska's second largest in a Big Ten Conference game and the largest in a conference road game since joining the league. The 54 points are also Nebraska's most in a Big Ten road game.

• Maryland picked up its first win in the series in the most recent meeting in Lincoln, recording a 13-10 victory at Memorial Stadium in 2023. The Terrapins kicked a field goal on the game's final play to provide the winning margin.

Nebraska Heads Back on the Road
After opening the season with a neutral site victory over Cincinnati on Aug. 28 at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium, Nebraska has enjoyed the comforts of home for its past four games over a five-week span. Saturday's game at Maryland will mark the Huskers' first true road game of the season and the first game away from Lincoln in 44 days.

• Nebraska is the last Big Ten team to play a true road game in the 2025 season.

• This marks the first time Nebraska has played its first true road game in the month of October since 2022 when Nebraska opened in Ireland against Northwestern and played its first true road game at Rutgers on Oct. 7.

• The Oct. 11 date for Nebraska's first game in an opposing stadium is its latest since playing its first true road game of 2013 at Purdue on Oct. 12.

Blackshirts Stifling Opponent Passing Game
The Nebraska Blackshirts are off to a strong start through five games, ranking among the Big Ten and national leaders in numerous categories. At the top of that list is a shut-down pass defense that has grounded opposing passing games.

• Nebraska leads the nation in pass yards allowed per game at 91.8 per contest, pacing nearly 27 yards ahead of Oklahoma, which is second at 118.4 yards per game. Nebraska also leads the nation in team pass efficiency defense with an 80.55 rating.

• The Huskers held each of their first three opponents to less than 70 yards passing, including Cincinnati (69 yards), Akron (62) and Houston Christian (67), before Michigan threw for 105 yards on Sept. 20. It marked the first time Nebraska held three straight opponents to fewer than 100 passing yards since 1990, when the Huskers held their first four opponents below the century mark in passing yards.

• Both Michigan (105 yards) and Michigan State (156 yards) were held below 100 yards until their final drive of the game.

• Husker opponents are completing 50.4 percent of their passes, a rate that is second nationally.

• Nebraska did not allow a pass play of 20 yards or more this season until Michigan State completed a 24-yard pass in the game's final minutes against the Huskers' second unit. Every other FBS team has allowed at least five passes of 20 yards this season.

• Michigan State threw a second-quarter touchdown pass against the Husker defense, marking the first passing touchdown NU has allowed in 2025. Nebraska is one of only four teams in the nation to allow one or fewer TD passes this season.

• In addition to its dominant pass defense, Nebraska also ranks in the top 25 nationally in total defense (247.4 ypg, 11th), scoring defense (16.2 ppg, 23rd) and 3rd-down defense (21.9%, 4th).

• Nebraska's shutout of Akron on Sept. 6 marked the first shutout by the Blackshirts in 16 seasons, dating back to a 2009 Holiday Bowl whitewash of Arizona.

• Both Houston Christian and Akron were held to less than 200 yards. It marked the first time Nebraska held an opponent to less than 200 yards in consecutive games since 2017.

• Under Head Coach Matt Rhule, Nebraska has held opponents to 14 or fewer points 16 times in 30 games.
